Marcus has been involved in music from an early age, his mum having been a professional classical soprano. He studied piano, voice, recorder and violin from an early age and won a music award to Repton School. There he also took up the viola and organ and gained Grade 8s in these instruments as well as piano and singing. He played in orchestras and string quartets, sang in choirs and was the school organist at Repton for two years. During his teaching career he was involved in the musical production of school plays and performances and taught class music. He also ran special ‘Rock School’ days for young performers and as a headmaster constantly supported a high standard of school music. He is currently working towards a Classical Recital Diploma on the piano and now has the time to play in small rock band. He also dabbles with the classical and electric guitar and the drums. He has taught occasional individuals a little bit of piano and is now offering to take on piano pupils as relative beginners. These lessons would suit pupils who want to not only learn the keyboard but gain a wider musical appreciation – listen to different sorts of music, try different sorts of keyboards and so on.
